I have been reorganizing for months within my space, trying to find a solution to my million embellishment chaos. I kept some in binders, some in drawers, and even some on hanging files. While that system did work OK, I wanted to actually have full display of all my packaged products. I considered buying a clip-it-up but OUCH they are expensive!! I did find a link by Kathleen Driggers for directions on how to make my own clip-it-up, but decided that was too much work and I didn't have enough space for another standing object in my space.
I remembered reading online that Ikea had swivel clips for a better price than I had found when I last price-checked a few months ago (when I had the idea originally to build a clip-it-up) the Ikea (curtain) clips are called DIGNITET and they are $4.99 for 24 clips and a wire curtain (called DEKA Curtain wire incl. clips) for $5.99. I spent under $35 for 132 clips and a secondary "tier"!!! Is the price not the most awesome???
The closet in my scraproom/office was full of clothes that no one used- ever, so I realized that I could much better utilize the space in the room itself by inventing a clip-it-up system. I used twine to attach my clips to my too-wide closet clothes rod. This worked pretty well after some trial and error (double tie each segment).
I organized all of my products by type (alphabets, bling, images, rub-ons, words/phrases, etc.) and then further organized each type by color (I'm a bit OCD ;) ). Furthermore, I used scrap pieces of cardstock to label where each color and category starts- in a rainbow pattern of course! :)
If you have a question about my system, drop me a line and I’ll give you any info I can.
What kind of storage system to do use to help you organize?
